Hello everyone,
Today was a down day, and did we need it. Monday started with great expectation and energy. The projects were many and the effort phenomenal. Tom Berry's expertise in carpentry was used in the removal of windows and framing. Karen Edenhofer over saw painting to complete a project begun by a group from Pennsylvania and Krist Pottorff's and my handyman skills were placed into service on multiple tasks at the same project. Lance oversaw a small army at one project scraping and sanding and Indianapolis Frank did the same at another. Dave's experience with remodeling came as a blessing at the project he was working at. Tuesday picked up at the same projects with as much energy as Monday and then our youthful expectation crashed, stumbled and met reality. Tom started feeling his aches and pains from the bottom of his legs to his shoulders but remarkably works through it as all good marines. Lance twisted and blew out a knee that has limited his ability to paint and scrape to three feet off the ground to about shoulder height, and ladders are definitely out of the question. Myself, well my back went out, lifting this monstrous furnace out of the home we are working on, see the photos already posted.
So at this evenings meeting we assigned jobs by who could bend, climb, lift or merely function. Ardis doesn't know it but there were three votes to put her on the second floor scaffold of one project and we thought of painting one home with arming Kellen with a paint ball gun, but Harry the project manager vetoed both. And worst of all the kids are as strong as they were the first day, showing never ending excitement, energy and Christ's love. Prayers for healing and safe-being are being gratefully accepted by all.
In Christ's Love To All,
Carl
