This Week
Hey guys, It's my first one of these. I feel oh so special. Well, i should :) haha. This week we (sean, caitlin, my dad, frank, and I) headed on down to west virginia for mission 2008. We got there and it was quite dark outside after seeing dead babies (inside joke, they weren't really dead babies) on the side of the road. We chose our rooms play quite a few rounds of uno and headed to bed. I must say cards were a huge thing this week.
Sunday
We woke up and went to church. Thank goodness it wan't until 11 in the morning. It took me awhile to get up cause it was a long day yesterday. But wewent to church, it was small. Very small, there were about 5 other people. But it was a lovely service. Then we went to the state park to picnic and go swimming. That was the day i started to really talk to the other girls. And amen i did. These girls are someof the most amazing pepole I have ever met and I love them to death. After the park's festivities we headed back to the house met harry, our supervisor and had our meals, and played lots of cards and then went to bed. I'd like to add that this was the day that my Marky-Mark was super super super hyper, and it kinda freaked my out alot. haha (: but everything turned out alright.
Monday
Our first day of work. I was with Franklin, Karen R, Karen D, Laura, John, Ardis, and Becky and Effie May's house. We scraped and sanded alot before lunch and I had my first of many experiences with the roof, to bleach the siding and get the mildew off of the house. Then we came back for a yummy sandwich lunch at the church. After lunch we were able to start painting the pea green house, barn red. Today, was the first day i met Donnie. Low and behold, i found out this man is just about the funniest person on the planet. It was a long day, and everyone slept quite well.
Tuesday
Susan and Ardis were dubbed the cooks today, and that's is alright with me. They do amazing work, but they're cooking was much needed and appricated! Today Emily was added to our group and we painted lots of red and white all over the house, and spent lots of time on the roof. It was good because it was a time where we could get to know eachother, and I'm soooo glad for that! But we did also get attacked by an evil chiwawa. It was another long day, we came home in a race for the downstairs bathrooms. I think the boys won that day, and we sat around in the computer room playin more cards, and listening to Sean, Emily and Tylar sing. And i slept a little uneasy that night because of Donnie. It's a long story but lets just say he knew how to scare me. It was a good day though (:
Wednesday
REST DAY!!!! WEll, so we thought. Today was the day Frank left ): and i really miss him. But we had a great time at the Coal Mine and the pool. The slide was probably the highlight of everyone's day. It was so much fun, we'd all go down in a chain. But it was tiring, and then we'd go jump off the diving boards and take pictures. It was an eventful day, and it was something that was much needed. WE came home and played kickball ,and i think it was today that Lance hurt his knee, i feel so bad. And Brian cracked a joke about this being his "Preaching Leg" and how they can get a "New, Good Pastor". But i just hope he gets better and very soon (:
Thursday
First of all, DONNNNNNNNIE MADEE YUMMY YUMMY BREAKFAST! Lots of work was done today. I was moved to Patty' house. Which is Donnie's sister. So he was hanging around before and after work, which was nice. He;s an amazing person. Im so glad i met him. Today i worked with Lance, Carl, Karen E, Nicole, Martha, Mark. I think that was all, but we had music playing and we were singing and working very hard. I had a chance to meet the neighboor, who actually owns the house, and Glinda is also another super sweet and caring human being. I was just blessed to meet her too. I got to know Martha more today. Im glad I got to work with different people on different days. Because I had the chance to get to know everyone on a different level. Tonight we had a bonfire, with lots of singing and dancing, and more kickball. It was anither long day with hard work, but a well deserved party at the end of it all.
Friday
A long morning of work. We got lots and lots done, but around lunch time Lance told the girls they were useless, and him and I took a twenty minute lunch break and headed back to Patty's for us to finsh the house just the two of us. And low and behold. We did, there is still one window to be painted but we finished the porch and all the trim. I put all the shutters up and Lance learned how to use somenew tool. My daddy taught him. haha. But I was proud of myself and everyone else on how much work was put into all the houses this week. We had a huge pizza party with lots of desserts. Another bonfire after the people who styed back after lunch, they cleaned the whoole house and fixed up the yard around the church and house. The tears started tonight, hugs and kisses all over. Reassuring text messages and visits to come. I love every single one of those amazing people i met today. Im going to miss them more then ever the second I get back to Indy. But Im counting down the days until the 29th. I love you cheese heads. And that's a good thing.
